VATICAN II AND MARY - VI

Mary, model of the Church

In addition, the Blessed Virgin is intimately linked to the Church by the gift and burden of the divine maternity of united with her Son, the Redeemer, as well as by the singular graces and functions vested in it. The Mother of God is the figure of the Church, as St. Ambrose taught, and that in the order of faith, love and unity perfect with Christ. Indeed, in the mystery of the Church, which receives, it also rightly called mother and virgin, the Blessed Virgin Mary came first, offering an outstanding and unique model of the Virgin and the Mother. For, in faith and obedience she gave birth on earth the very Son of God, not carnal, but under the action of the Holy Spirit; new Eve, she thought, not in the old serpent, but the messenger of God, a faith no doubt was unaltered. She gave birth to the Son that God established the firstborn of many brothers (Rom. 8, 29), that is to say the faithful. Also she cooperates in her mother's love, in the lead and educate.
Church, contemplating her hidden sanctity, imitating her charity, the Church, faithfully fulfilling the Father's will, becomes a mother, too, by the welcome it offers a lot of faith in the Word of God . For, by preaching and baptism she brings forth to new life and immortal son conceived of the Holy Spirit born of God. She is a virgin, who keeps whole and pure faith she has given to the bridegroom. In imitation of the Mother of her Lord, she retains a virginal way, by virtue of the Holy Spirit, a faith intact, a firm hope and sincere charity.

VATICAN II AND MARY - V

The Blessed Virgin Mary after the Ascension

As it had pleased God not to manifest solemnly the mystery of the salvation of humanity before he sent the Spirit, Christ had promised, we see the Apostles before the day of Pentecost "persevering with one heart in prayer, with the women, Mary Mother of Jesus and the brethren thereof" (Acts 1, 14), and we also see Mary by her prayers imploring the gift of the Spirit, the Spirit who had covered itself with its shadow at the Annunciation. Finally, the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from every stain of original sin at the end of his earthly life, was elevated to the glory of heaven in his soul and his body and was exalted by the Lord as Queen over to to resemble more perfectly to His Son, the Lord of lords (cf. Rev. 19, 16) and conqueror of sin and death.

VATICAN II AND MARY - IV

The Virgin and Child Jesus

This union of the Mother and Son in the work of salvation is manifest from the time of the virginal conception of Christ until his death. It is first when Mary, who is in haste to Elizabeth, was proclaimed blessed by it because of his faith in the promise of salvation and the precursor rejoices in the womb (cf. Lk I, 41-45).
This union occurs then the Nativity, where the Mother of God joyfully showed the shepherds and Magi her firstborn Son, he who has not injured her virginity, but sanctified. When she introduced him to the Lord in the temple once the offering of the poor, she heard Simeon announce both that the Son would be a sign of contradiction and that a sword would pierce the soul of the mother, so that may be revealed thoughts of many hearts (cf. Lk 2, 34-35). After losing the baby Jesus and have searched anxiously, his parents found him in the temple, to the things of his Father, and they did not understand the words of the Son. His mother meditated and kept all these things in her heart (Lk 2, 41-51).

The Blessed Virgin and Jesus' public ministry

In the public life of Jesus, his mother made appearances that are meaningful. From the beginning, when the wedding at Cana in Galilee, moved with compassion, she brought about by her intercession the beginning of the miracles of Jesus the Messiah (cf. Jn. 2, 1-11). During the preaching of Jesus, she heard the words which his son, placing the kingdom beyond reports and bonds of flesh and blood, proclaimed blessed those who hear and keep the word of God (cf. Mk 3, 35 Lk 11, 27-28), as it did with fidelity (cf. Lk 2, 19 and 51). Thus even the Blessed Virgin advanced in her pilgrimage of faith, and it remained closely united with her Son unto the cross. Here, it is not without divine plan she stood (cf. Jn 19, 25), she suffered deeply with her only son and joined with all her maternal heart to his sacrifice, lovingly consenting the immolation of the victim that she had caused. Finally, the same Christ Jesus dying on the cross, the mother gave to the disciple, saying: "Woman, behold your son" (cf. Jn 19, 26-27). (Vatican II: Lumen Gentium, 57-58).

ROLE OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN IN THE ECONOMY THE SALVATION

The Mother of the Messiah in the Old Testament

The Sacred Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, and the venerable tradition, show with increasing clarity The role of the Mother of the Saviour in the economy of salvation and we are, so to speak, under the eyes. The books of the Old Testament describe the history of salvation, which slowly prepared the coming of Christ in the world. These earliest documents, according to the intelligence that has the Church in light of the full revelation follow, are little a little clearer light the figure of a woman, Mother of the Redeemer. She guessed that already prophetically presented sounds that light in the promise that was given to our first parents fell into sin, victory over the serpent (cf. Gen. 3, 15). Similarly, she is the Virgin who shall conceive and bear a son, whose name will be Emmanuel (cf. Is 7, 14, cf. Mich. 5, 2-3; Mt 1, 22-23). It is at the forefront of these poor and humble of the Lord who await salvation with confidence, and receive him hello. And finally, with her exalted Daughter of Sion, after the long wait for the promise, the times are fulfilled and a new economy is created where the Son of God takes it human nature to free man from sin by the mysteries of his flesh.

Mary at the Annunciation

Father of mercies willed that the acceptance of the predestined mother precede the Incarnation, he wanted a woman had also contributed to the death, even a woman should give to life. And this is an extraordinary way for the Mother of Jesus, who gave the world the very Life that renews all things, and it has been enriched by God with gifts appropriate to such a high office. It is not surprising that the Holy Fathers commonly called the Mother of God the All Holy, the one that is free from every stain of sin, which is shaped and formed as a new creature by the Holy Spirit. Decorated in the first instant of her conception of the splendor of holiness quite strange, the Virgin of Nazareth is on the order of God, hailed by the Angel of the Annunciation as "full of grace" (cf. Lk 1, 28), and the heavenly messenger she replies: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me according to thy word" (Lk 1, 38). Thus Mary, daughter of Adam, consenting to the word of God is became the Mother of Jesus and embracing the heart, without being impeded by no sin, God's saving will, she devoted herself totally as a handmaid of the Lord to the person and work of her Son, all in the service of mystery dependence of redemption of his Son and in union with him, by the grace of God Almighty. It is therefore right that the Fathers believe that Mary was not a purely passive instrument in God's hands, but as freely cooperating in the salvation of man in the freedom of faith and obedience. In fact, as St. Irenaeus, "in obedience, she became the cause of salvation for itself and for all mankind. "And, with Irenaeus, many early Fathers gladly assert in their preaching, that" the knot of Eve's disobedience was untied by Mary's obedience; that the virgin Eve bound through her unbelief, faith of the Virgin Mary loosened "and by comparison with Eve, they call Mary" Mother of the living "and frequently claim:" death came by way of Eve, life by that of Mary. GO TO JESUS THROUGH MARY

That honor Jesus

Go to Jesus through Mary, c is truly honor Jesus Christ, because it's mark that we are not worthy to approach his infinite holiness directly by ourselves because of our sins, and that we need Mary, his Holy Mother, be our advocate and mediator with him who is our mediator. It is both close to him as our mediator and our brother, and humble ourselves before Him as our God and to judge: in short, is to practice humility that always delights the heart of God ... Dedicating
and to Jesus through Mary is put in the hands of Mary our good deeds that seem good though, are often dirty and unworthy of sight and acceptance of God before whom the stars are not pure.
Ah! ask the good mother and teacher that, having received our poor Now it purifies, sanctifies it, she raises and embellishment so that it makes him worthy of God. All of our revenues are lower soul before God, the Father of the family, to win his friendship and grace, that would be before the king the wormy apple of a poor peasant farmer of his Majesty, to pay his farm. What would the poor man, he was witty and whether it was coming from the queen? Friend of the poor peasant and respectful to the king, she not detracted from the apple what is rotten and spoiled and do not put it in a golden basin surrounded by flowers, and the king could it help to receive it, even with joy at the hands of the queen who loves the peasant ... Offerre desides modicum quid? manibus Mariae tradere cura, if not screw sustinere repulsam. If you want to offer something to God, says St. Bernard, put [him] in the hands of Mary, unless you want to be rebuffed.

THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY MOTHER OF GOD IN THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST AND THE CHURCH

PREAMBLE

The already distant Vatican Council II, the surprise of many Christians - some said they wanted to "debunk" Mary, because according to them, poor fools, it was the "shadow" on his Son! - In its Dogmatic Constitution "Lumen Gentium", has left for posterity one of the most beautiful texts on the Virgin Mary our Mother. It is this text that we'll make you read, because it seems to forget some.
Having Mary as patroness of our Blog and its greatest servant - St. Louis Marie Grignon de Monfort - as protector, to whom we entrust these pages, day after day, month after month, will focus with love, tenderness and filial devotion to the Queen of Heaven, Blessed Mother of God and men.

The Blessed Virgin in the mystery of Christ

God, very kind and very wise, wanting to accomplish the redemption of the world, "when times were of age, has sent his Son, born of a woman ... to make us adoptive son "(Gal. 4, 4-5). "For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven and was incarnate by the power of the Holy Spirit in the Virgin Mary." This divine mystery of salvation is revealed to us and continues in the Church, the Savior constituted as a body in which the faithful, following Christ as their head and living in communion with all his saints, should also venerate the memory "of the glorious and ever Virgin Mary, Mother of God, our Lord Jesus Christ ".
